By: The PRP Posted on: 04/18/2003 Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe broke his collarbone at last night's tour stop in Brooklyn, NY after a stage dive went wrong, ending with him landing on the floor a few songs into the set. Tour mate Mark Hunter of Chimaira came out to handle the vocals for one song but was not well versed with the bands lyrics and as such, a rabid fan who knew the words was brought on stage and performed the rest of the bands set. Skid Row To Release Long-Awaited Studio CD And Documentary DVD.... By: Blabbermouth.Net Posted on: 04/18/2003 SKID ROW's long-awaited new CD, "Thickskin", will be released independently in the United States on Skid Row Records this summer in either July or August. Exact details are still being finalized. A European release is expected around the same time through SPV/Steamhammer Records. "We're very excited about this, especially since it's the first SKID ROW record for [singer] Johnny [Solinger] and [drummer] Phil [Varone]," said bassist Rachel Bolan in an official press release. "It took a long time to record due to the fact that we had to do it in short bursts because we were touring a lot the past several years. We were on the road with KISS and then we did the Rock Never Stops tour last summer. "We were writing while we were on the road, and then when there was a tour break we'd write some more and then record. It required a lot of hard work. "We didn't consciously strive for a modern sound, nor did we intentionally try to copy what we've done in the past," Bolan explained. "'Thickskin' turned out naturally. We still listen to everything just like we always have - whatever's new out there and the old albums by our favorite bands that influenced us in the first place." Two years in the life of SKID ROW are chronicled in the DVD "Under the Skin - The Making of Thickskin". It's scheduled for release in May and it will give fans a tantalizing taste of "Thickskin". "A friend of ours named Fabio Jafet had the idea about making a documentary," said Bolan. "He covered everything from when Johnny joined the band, to the KISS tour to the making of 'Thickskin'. He shot 40 hours of tape over two years and condensed it for a one-hour DVD. He was around quite a bit, but after awhile you forgot he was there. "On this DVD you get interviews and some previews of the 'Thickskin' CD as well as footage of us in the studio. In a way, it ends up kind of like a music video. In his place, the band have enlisted longtime fan and friend Justin Christian, who will be taking up the role of bass guitarist. Additionally, keyboardist and guitarist Gary Griffith will be performing the singing on the group's upcoming album, while guitarist Dwayne Boardman will be responsible for all the "brutal" vocals. MORGION, who are currently unsigned following a split with Relapse Records last year, are hard at work recording their third album, "Cloaked by Ages, Crowned in Earth", for a tentative late 2003 release through an as-yet-undetermined label. The band are also selling a CD-R featuring the ultra-rare "Rabid Decay" demo and "Travesty" 7", as well as a previously unreleased live studio recording from 1992. Plans also exist for a similar compilation that will include new demo tracks, a live concert recording from 1999, and the unreleased "Oceans Without Shores" EP. Davis was previously rumored to have left the group just as they were preparing to enter the studio to begin work on the follow-up to their critically acclaimed Century Media debut, "Determination". "In an effort to dispel the flurry of rumors floating around, GOD FORBID would like to announce that Byron Davis is still the lead singer of the band," the group said in an official statement. "First, we would like to apologize for our silence since these rumors began circulating. We've been concentrating solely on writing the best material possible and refused to be sidetracked in any way. We are all really excited about the new songs. In fact, we feel stronger about this material than anything we've done before. You can expect things to get a bit heavier and with more groove than anything on 'Determination'. This will be a new beginning for us and we don't think any of you will be disappointed." Davis added, "Recently there were some differences of opinion amongst the band that led to some rumors being spread and since then things have been settled.
