Creed Frontman Gets Assaulted By Ex-Wife...
Hillaree Stapp, ex-wife of CREED frontman Scott Stapp, was arrested Nov. 14 on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon for allegedly striking Scott in the face with a cell phone. The incident reportedly took place at Scott's Orlando, Florida-area home during a heated argument over custody of their son, Jagger, and other matters.
In a report filed by the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Stapp said his ex-wife picked up the phone during an argument at his Orange County home last Thursday and then "punched me with it across my left jaw." Cops were called to the scene by Diana Ivey, the 29-year-old performer's assistant, who witnessed the incident.
According to the report, Scott and his wife were "discussing the continuation of her detox and psychological exam" when "the discussion became an argument and that Hilaree stated 'she was going to get an attorney to get custody of her son and reverse the existing order.' Scott then added that Hilaree began yelling, 'I fucked four guys in your bed while you were gone.' Stapp then added that during the verbal [argument] Hilaree picked up a cell phone and punched him with it across his left side of his face. Stapp added that the force she used caused his face to jerk to the right. Scott also stated that he then told Ivey to call 911/police."
A jail official said Hilaree had posted bail Tuesday, but had yet to be released to home-confinement.
The Stapps were divorced in June 1999 after 16 months of marriage. In a March 2001 People magazine interview, Scott spoke glowingly of his ex: "I'll always love her. She gave me one of the greatest gifts in my life, my son."

Relapse inks Philadelphia?s DYSRHYTHMIA...
Relapse Records is proud to announce the signing of Philadelphia's DYSRHYTHMIA to a worldwide recording deal.
DYSRHYTHMIA crafts music so bold and indefinable that they create their own genre. The band's influences vary from progressive rock and metal to indie-rock sensibilities, avant-jazz, and ambient soundscapes. DYSRHYTHMIA (drummer Jeff Eber, guitarist Kevin Hufnagel and bassist
Clayton Ingerson) will enter Chicago's Electrical Audio Studios in late January with engineer Steve Albini (NIRVANA, HELMET, NEUROSIS) to record their as-yet-untitled new album (due out spring '03).
Additionally, drummer Eber recently contributed his talents to the forthcoming SPASTIC INK (featuring ex-WATCHTOWER member Ron Jarzombek) CD.

Relapse Contamination Festival...
Relapse Records is pleased to announce plans for the label's first music festival! The Relapse Contamination Festival will take place on January 18th and 19th, 2003 at the Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia.
The Relapse Contamination Festival will be host to upwards of fifteen Relapse Records / Release Entertainment recording artists over the course of the weekend, with Relapse notables NEUROSIS (with MASTODON as main support) headlining it first East Coast show in almost three years on January 18th and the DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN (with HIGH ON FIRE as main support) heading up the January 19th lineup. Other Relapse / Release artists scheduled to perform over the course of the event include BURNT BY THE SUN, ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY, TODAY IS THE DAY, PIG DESTROYER, DYSRHYTHMIA and THE END, with additional artists to be announced as they are confirmed.
The festival will also serve as the East Coast screening of NEUROSIS' long-awaited A Sun That Never Sets DVD as well as the record release show for Contaminated 5.0; a low-price, double-CD label sampler containing material from all the performing artists and dozens more.

Victory News...
BLOODLET Here's a fun one that relates to the past Halloween show in Milwaukee with Bloodlet and Gwar that yours truly attended. At the end of Bloodlet's set, GWAR members clad in their costumes raided the stage, grabbing front man Scott by his dreadlocks and "cut his throat" on stage, with pints and pints of fake blood spraying all over the stage and the fans, who were screaming in delight! Now that was quite a classic show that night! The US Gwar/Bloodlet tour was great, and the band just began a new tour with Today Is The Day. Bloodlet are looking forward to returning to Canada and Europe in 2003.
DARKEST HOUR will record the follow up to "So Sedated, So Secure" at Studio Friedman in Gothenburg, Sweden (At The Gates, In Flames, The Haunted) from mid January to mid February. They are extremely excited to go record in Europe!
RIVER CITY REBELS are going to hit the road with label mates Catch 22 soon in the USA. Even though rumor spread that they were going to play the Canadian dates as well in December, those had to be cancelled and therefore River City Rebels will NOT play the Canadian shows. VOODOO GLOW SKULLS The European tour is a great success! The Glow Skulls are in the middle of their 5-week trek in Europe and things could not be better. The 15-date "tour de France" was a blast and they made lots of new fans. Most everywhere they've played to a sold out crowd every night. Starting next Monday, they will join the Goldfinger tour in the UK, which holds the promise to be quite an insane string of gigs, finishing off at the Brixton Academy in London! The Glow Skulls are already planning to come back for another tour in Europe next summer!
WATERDOWN Are entering the studio in Germany tomorrow. The band has rehearsed the new songs in the past few weeks and they all are ready and excited to record! The tentative title for the album is: "The Files You Have On Me". Once again, Limbert Fabian will be responsible for the cover artwork (Waterdown, Snapcase etc).

New Orleans' NEAR LIFE EXPERIENCE Confirms Tour Dates To Promote
'Day Of Silver Sun'...
New Orleans has become infamous for birthing a plethora of eclectic & influential rock bands, ranging from jazz-flavored to downright brutal. Now, the area can be associated as the stomping grounds of NEAR LIFE EXPERIENCE and their new masterwork 'Day Of Silver Sun'.
Acting as the premier release for NOLA-based NoiseLab Records, 'Day Of Silver Sun' explores the dark side of humanity, while flickering the silver lining that dwells within us all through heavy, emotive music. Who better to helm this inventive project than renowned guitarist/vocalist Steve Blaze, a man who has released no less than 10 CDs through various endeavors and has six other projects planned for the near future. In addition to NEAR LIFE EXPERIENCE, the classically-trained Blaze is the chief songwriter/guitarist for Lillian Axe.
Despite his diverse track record, Steve's latest endeavor possesses quite a modern rock appeal, while harboring tendencies toward the underground with profound groove-laden, doom and aggressive components. "We wanted to make amazing, powerful, dark music that would move mountains," says Blaze. "When I listen to what friends and other people say, I hear Kyuss, Queens Of The Stone Age with a touch of Tool, Type O Negative and Black Sabbath. The music is very emotional and its main characteristic is the melodic vocal style."
NEAR LIFE EXPERIENCE was formed in 1995 by Steve and his brother, drummer Craig Nunemacher (notable for his work with Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society and Crowbar). Although Craig moved on to the aforementioned ventures, Blaze pushes forward with guitarist Sam Poitevent, bassist Paul Starnes, and energetic drummer Dennis Papaleo. 'Day Of Silver Sun' is the cumulative result of Steve's multi-faceted influences, and each song reflects a defined maturity. Blaze elaborates, "I think when we first started out, I had so much of this deep, dark emotion in me. I guess the melancholy side of my personality only seems to come forth whenever I get creative. I just think there's a heavier, more ?mysterious, ethereal kind of feel to the new album."
Along with special Price and Positioning at retailers such as Tower Records, the Transworld Group, Be Bop, Newbury Comics, Waterloo, etc., NEAR LIFE EXPERIENCE is promoting the thought-provoking release with a number of tour dates! A complete tour of the Midwest and Northeastern US will follow in the New Year.
